English as a Second Language (ESL) Course
In the Ontario Curriculum, ESL courses are designed to support students whose first language is not English, helping them develop their English language skills in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. These courses are tailored to meet the needs of English language learners (ELLs) at various levels of proficiency, enabling them to succeed in an English-speaking academic environment. The curriculum is structured to provide a comprehensive language education that aligns with the Ontario Ministry of Education’s standards, promoting linguistic proficiency alongside academic and social integration.
